Guernsey, in seventeenth place, welcome fourth place Southall to the Channel Islands this evening, with both sides rather desperate for victory, albeit for entirely different reasons.
The Green Lions start the evening four points clear of the bottom two, and without a win in seven matches- the first six of those defeats. The All seem to have got back on an even keel after a March blip, winning their last four matches, but so tight is the battle for a play off place that they start the day level on points with both of the sides directly behind them, Westfield and Raynes Park Vale, and on that basis a win is a must.
Guernsey’s form at Footes Lane of late has been a particular concern, their last five home matches seeing them take one point and concede twenty two goals. Binfield’s improvement sees the second bottom Moles four points behind the Green Lions albeit having played a game more, but with Guernsey’s recent run they certainly aren’t out of danger.
Southall seem to have bounced back from a poor run on the road, following a five match winless run on their travels with victories in their last two. When the sides met on the mainland in Mid November, the match finished one-one- but the visitors won’t have positive memories of their last trip to Footes Lane, a four-one win for the hosts in March last year.
