Hawks hope to go second- and blunt Chatham’s title charge

By Ian Townsend

Whitehawk welcome Chatham Town as fourth hosts second, whilst Corinthian’s survival hopes hang by a thread as Three Bridges come to call

What a match we have in prospect at the Enclosed Ground, as second place Chatham Town travel down to Brighton to take on fourth place Whitehawk. The Chats, four points behind leaders Ramsgate with a game in hand, have seen their promotion charge slow to a canter with a run of two wins from eight matches- and it has been their away record which has been the handicap, every one of their six league defeats coming on the road. Whilst all of our promotion chasers have dropped points of late, Whitehawk have dropped fewer- five wins from their last six matches seeing them open up a four point gap over the chasing pack and close to within three points of the second place Chats. With a better goal difference, another win tonight would see them up to second- and, if all goes well, you’ll be able to read all about it at isthmian.co.uk shortly after full time. The two sides meet again on April 1st.

At the other end of the table, Corinthian find themselves fifteen points away from guaranteed safety with only eight matches to go. A win tonight- indeed, even a draw tonight- would at least take them off the bottom, but you’d expect that to have any chance of an unlikely great escape three points would be a must, as Three Bridges come to call. The hosts have gone nine matches without a win; whilst Bridges, who are five points clear of the drop zone, would be further clear if only they could turn one point into three. Tonight’s visitors have drawn seven of their last ten matches, and still haven’t managed a win on the road this season despite fourteen attempts. Could tonight be their night?
