Basildon United, still without a manager, made the trip to Scraley Road to take on seventh place Heybridge Swifts. This was the Bees first match since their narrow defeat at Bowers & Pitsea on November 25th, which was their first loss in eight matches- and the Bees looked back to their best early on, Ben Allen scoring the opening goal of the game on nine minutes. It looked like three points were secure, and they were ahead as we entered added time, but then Kane Munday made the visiting fans a little miserable with a last-gasp leveller. That’s six matches between the sides since the Bees last defeated Swifts- but they’ve never been closer to ending that run. The Bees drop to fourth, Swifts stay seventh.
