Injured rivals rushed to hospital

By David Watters

A serious clash of between Ramsgate's Nick Treadwell and Herne Bay's Lee Browning saw Saturday's Ryman South clash at Winch's Field abandoned.

Combative midfielder Treadwell, 26, was rushed to hospital in a road ambulance while Bay midfielder Browning, 28, was airlifted after the fixture was called off soon after half-time by worried match officials.

The match was set to continue after the players were hurt in a nasty clash of heads before the break but after the half-time interval was extended to allow them to be treated, the referee took the decision to abandon the game with hosts Herne Bay leading 1-0.

Both players are reported to have suffered serious concussions and were due to undergo tests in hospital on Saturday night.
