Injury won't stop keeper contributing

Tardif, pictured, is set to miss the rest of the Ryman South season and the 2017 Island Games after breaking both bones in his right leg in October during a 1-1 draw with Godalming Town at Footes Lane.

After starting out on the road to recovery, the popular former Oxford United and Portsmouth stopper is determined to stay involved with manager Tony Vance and his Green Lions squad.

A key figure since the club was formed in 2011, the 35-year-old told the BBC Radio Guernsey: "I've spoken to Tony about the Island Games and the potential of travelling as some part of the management group. Just because I'm sitting at home doesn't mean I'm not involved.

"I'm trying to pass my wisdom onto the guys to try and keep the mood up in the camp. I hope I can be at the training ground in a few months time and just help out, watch over training, give them a few pointers and be there for moral support."

He added: "I want to play as big a part as possible."
