Introducing the Sportswik Isthmian Youth League

By Ian Townsend

Innovative sports social media App Sportswik announced as Youth League sponsors

With very few exceptions, clubs in our league- and indeed at our level- can’t afford to go out and purchase ready-made talent for their first teams. Instead they have to grow their own, which is why our Youth League is so important for the development of the players who will be the backbone of our future.

We are therefore delighted to announce new sponsors, and to introduce to you sports social media company Sportswik.

Sportswik is a dedicated social media app and media platform for team sports, and the deal sees the Youth League accept the Swedish tech company as its title sponsor. It will now be known as the Sportswik Isthmian Youth League.

Since the start of the season, the league has been utilising the Sportswik platform to showcase its 40 teams – giving players, coaches and fans the opportunity to post video, images and comments to contribute to the match-day experience. The partnership follows successful trials of the Sportswik app last season and coincides with the UK launch of the innovative sports social media platform.

So far, Sportswik has invested over £4 million in the developing the free-to-download app which, in just three years, has grown rapidly across the Nordics – and boasts 45% of the grassroots football teams utilising the app in Sweden. It also has significant take-up in hockey and other teamsports.

Earlier this month Sportswik was unveiled as one of the finalists for the 2017 Football Business Awards for Best Use of Technology in Football. The winner will be named at a prestigious ceremony on November 2.

Sportswik CEO, Martin Wiklund said: “It is great to have formed a partnership with the highly respected Isthmian League. When it comes to sports social media other apps can’t rival Sportswik’s functionality – which is why it has proved so popular where we have already launched. We have spent the summer adapting the app to the needs of grassroots football and have really hit the ground running.”

Isthmian chairman, Nick Robinson added: ”We are delighted to have Sportswik on board. It is a good deal for them and a good deal for us as it allows us to enhance the way we promote the youth league – and showcase the rich vein of talent that our youth league produces.”

To follow teams in the Sportswik Isthmian Youth League, users should download the app at Google Play or Apple Store and search for their team. They can also view their team via their desktop on the Sportswik media platform at www.sportswik.com. The app allows all supporters and team members to get involved by posting comments, video and pictures.

More information on how it works (including a video demonstration) is available at the UK site via sportswik.co.uk.

So what are you waiting for? Get over to your App Store, download your Sportswik App, follow your team- and get posting!
