K's climb the table, Robins held by visiting Rooks

By Ian Townsend

We had two matches in the BetVictor Premier Division. The two visiting teams will be happier this morning.

Both Haringey Borough and Carshalton Athletic had the chance to move into third place in the BetVictor Isthmian League Premier Division last night- and both failed to take that chance, as the visitors to Coles Park and Colston Avenue had other ideas.

Borough had gone off the boil a little of late, with only one win from their last four- and now it's only one from five, as Kingstonian got back to winning ways by taking all three points. Last season Borough won both matches against the K's by an aggregate score of six goals to nil, but this years Kingstonian are made of sterner stuff, and Jerry Puemo got the only goal of the game ten minutes before the break.

It seems no time at all since Carshalton Athletic and Lewes were close competitors for the South Division title, but both firmly established themselves in the Premier Division last season- with Athletic finishing as runners up and the Rooks leading the table on occasions before falling away. The Robins had won four of their last five, but couldn't get a win last night, as although Ricky Korboa gave them the lead in the twenty fourth minute it lasted only for twenty one minutes more, James Hammond getting the Lewes equaliser and indeed the last goal of the game. Lewes seem to have turned around their poor early-season form, this being the fourth match of an unbeaten run.
