From coach to interim manager to permanent manager for Max Mitchell at Potters Bar Town

Potters Bar Town yesterday announced that their interim boss, Max Mitchell, was now their permanent boss. he has been in charge at the Lantern Stadium for just over a month, since the departure of Lee Protheroe.

Chairman Peter Waller told the club website:

"The Board invited Max to accept this role as he has the desire, ability and confidence to succeed next season in the Isthmian Premier League, which everyone can see, is a tough League every week.

It was a new and young squad that played in the Velocity Cup final, but the club knows they have the potential to achieve success, but it takes time.

We started rebuilding weeks ago, and now we are delighted Max will continue that progress, and we wish him a successful future."

The new Scholars boss had this to say:

“I’m delighted to take on the role as First Team Manager.

I’m not one to turn down a challenge and I feel that through adversity positive things can happen given there is transparency from the start, a desire to improve day by day and a togetherness in the way we work.

We are currently going through a rebuild phase which will take time, but we will be consistent with the strategy put in place.

We have set realistic targets with the playing group with emphasis on looking to stabilise the team for next season and adding to the current group of players over pre-season."
