Monday's Ryman North action review

By David Watters

AFC Hornchurch moved six points clear of sixth-placed Cheshunt in the race for a play-off place in Ryman North on Monday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Urchins eased to a 4-0 win at the Village Glass Stadium to ensure that Witham Town can`t rest yet at the opposite end of the table.

An own goal from Spencer Harrison gave the visitors an eighth minute boost and Dave Collis doubled that lead just five minutes later. David Knight then killed off the hosts with a brace in the 32nd and then the 76th minutes.

Witham should just about be safe, being four points above third-bottom Waltham Abbey with just a couple of games remaining for both. There is only one place to battle against dropping into but one of the two teams already doomed to finishing in a relegation spot, Barkingside, enjoyed a carefree 4-0 home win over Romford.

Luke With broke the deadlock three minutes into the second half and then former Romford player Tyrone Scarlett added a second in the 64th minute. That broke the shackles on Side, whose With went on to complete a hat-trick with goals in the 78th and 84th minutes – the third coming from the penalty spot.

Monday`s other game saw Aveley and Haringey Borough share a 1-1 Mill Field draw.

The visitors got off to a great start when Leon Wilson opened the scoring inside two minutes. The Millers gradually got themselves back into the game and pulled level four minutes after the restart through Andres Tobon.
