No change at the top- but a Boxing Day afternoon of drama!

By Ian Townsend

Here's a round up of today's games- and a timeline showing every vital moment!

Billericay Town maintained their lead at the top of the Premier Division with a hard fought victory over Thurrock, Jake Robinson with the only goal- his thirty sixth of the season- whilst Dulwich Hamlet remained hard on their heels with a 3-1 win over local rivals Tooting & Mitcham United at Imperial Fields- but it was Hendon who put in the performance of the day, travelling to Earlsmead and walloping Harrow Borough 4-0. That victory lifted the greens into third place, Staines Town slipping down the table with a 0-0 draw at Wingate and Finchley. Folkestone Invicta are in fifth, coming from behind at home to Tonbridge Angels with three goals in nine minutes to record a 3-1 victory at the Fullicks Stadium. Leiston slipped out of the play-off places, a Seb Dunbar own goal giving Lowestoft Town the points.

At the bottom of the table Worthing closed the gap between themselves and visitors Burgess Hill Town to one point, beating the Hillians 2-0 at Woodside Road. The great escape is most definitely on! Needham Market are in twentieth position after a 3-2 win over Brghtlingsea Regent, whilst Dorking Wanderers moved up to sixteenth, beating Margate 4-2. Enfield Town won 2-0 at Harlow Town.

In the North Division Bowers & Pitsea moved within two points of leaders AFC Hornchurch, defeating ten man Canvey Island 2-1 with a Tony Stokes penalty six minutes from time (although the Urchins have three games in hand), whilst Dereham Town in third could only draw 0-0 against Norwich United. Maldon & Tiptree won the Maldon derby over Heybridge Swifts by four goals to two, whilst it’s Potters Bar Town who complete the playoff positions, beating Hertford Town 1-0.

Waltham Abbey came from behind to defeat Ware by three goals to one and move into seventh, whilst Haringey Borough were the big winners, travelling to Cheshunt and scoring five goals without reply. Bury Town, Witham Town and AFC Sudbury were the other victors.

Lewes remain top of the South Division, eight hundred and two supporters watching them defeat Hastings United 2-0 in the East Sussex derby, but the big winners were Cray Wanderers, who walloped SEVEN goals past sorry Shoreham without reply. Corinthian-Casuals and Carshalton Athletic, in third and fourth place this morning, played out a 0-0 draw, and that let Walton Casuals slip between them into fourth place after beating Molesey 2-1. Greenwich Borough make up the play-off quartet, after defeating Phoenix Sports 2-0.

Whyteleafe won their first match since the departure of Leigh Dynan to Kingstonian, with a 2-1 victory over local rivals Chipstead, whilst in the Channel Islands Horsham ensured a happy flight home after beating Guernsey 3-1. Ashford United moved twelve points clear of Shoreham at the bottom with a 3-1 victory over Sittingbourne, whilst Herne Bay defeated Faversham Town by the same score. Ramsgate and Hythe Town drew 2-2.

There are matches in all divisions tomorrow. Met Police host Leatherhead in the Premier, whilst in the South Division East Grinstead Town entertain South Park and Thamesmead Town face VCD Athletic.

In the North Division you can hear live commentary of Brentwood Town v Tilbury courtesy of back of the Net, whilst it’s bottom v top as Romford host AFC Hornchurch.
