Fans of Ashford United will have seen a new face between the sticks as they travelled to Corinthian yesterday- and new keeper Tyler McCarthy had a positive debut, keeping a clean sheet in the nil-nil draw.
Tyler, who came in to replace the injured Jordan Carey, was the first choice keeper at our late lamented Whyteleafe for the last three seasons, making forty one appearances during 2018-19, thirty eight during the covid-ended 2019-20, and another thirteen last season before the world fell in on us once more.
Tyler came through the Academy at Maidstone United, and is also a highly-regarded goalkeeping coach. He has played once for the Robins, in the defeat against Enfield Town on the opening day.
