O'Connell a Rover no more

Great Wakering Rovers part company with boss Iain O'Connell

Great Wakering Rovers have announced that manager Iain O'Connell has left the club.

Iain has been in the role since May. In a statement released last night, the club explained:

'This was Iain's third spell in charge of the village club. He returned at the end of last season with just four games remaining and collected eight points from a possible twelve, thus keeping Rovers in the Isthmian League.

This season the results have been disappointing with only three wins from fourteen league games. We would like to thank Iain for his commitment and hard work during his tenure and we wish him well for the future.

The club are currently not accepting applications for the position. '

Iain previously played for the club. He also played at a higher level for the likes of Southend United, Margate, Chelmsford City and Dover Athletic, and spent some time managing Margate early in the last decade.
