Once again, any one from three could top the South Central tomorrow. Who will triumph?

The lead at the top of the South Central Division seems to change hands every week- and it could do so again on Saturday. Westfield are the most recent team to hit the top, and deservedly so, as they’ve won their last seven matches including victories over their two closest rivals, Ware and Hanwell Town. Field are at home to Barking tomorrow, the Blues starting the day in seventh place after their own unbeaten run came to an end in midweek, when fourth place Uxbridge took the points at Mayesbrook Park. Barking were five games unbeaten up until then, so should pose a strong test for our leaders.

Ware are behind Westfield only on goal difference, and bounced back from their hammering against their closest rivals by defeating Bedfont Sports last time out. The Blues are the Isthmian League’s top scorers with sixty two league goals, but have also conceded more goals than any other side in the top five- so one thing they guarantee is entertainment! They travel to South Park, the Sparks in fabulous form with only one defeat in seven- and that came against Westfield.

Defeat against Westfield saw Hanwell Town slip to third, and our longtime leaders will want to get back to the summit as quickly as possible. If the two sides above them fail to win then they could do it as soon as Saturday, provided they can defeat Chalfont St Peter. Their hosts the Saints have gone five games without a victory, but were impressive at Barking last timeout, earning a two-two draw.

Uxbridge climbed to fourth with a win at Barking in midweek, and seem to have rediscovered their early season form, with only one defeat in their last eight matches. They host another form side tomorrow as Chipstead travel to Honeycroft, the Chips undefeated in seven and having won six of those matches, including last weekend when they came back from two goals down to put four past Harlow Town.

Tooting & Mitcham United start the day in fifth. The Terrors travel to Staines Town with revenge on their mind, given that the Swans defeated them at Imperial Fields in November. Staines haven’t won a game since then, and have only taken two points from twenty one, whilst the Terrors have lost two of their eight games since, taking sixteen points from twenty four. They are five points behind Westfield with a game in hand.

Waltham Abbey, in sixth, had a morale-boosting five-one win over Maldon & Tiptree in the County Cup during the week. Uncharacteristically they’ve taken only one point from their last two matches, but victory over Northwood could take them back into the Playoff places. The Woods travel to Capershotts on the back of six consecutive defeats, and need to turn that form around if they are to avoid being dragged into the mire at the bottom of the table.

Chertsey Town, who start the day in eighth, entertain Hertford Town. The Curfews have the same number of wins, draws and defeats from their last six matches, but have taken four points from their last two so seem to be recapturing their early season form. Their visitors walloped Staines Town last weekend, their first win in four matches.

Bracknell Town, improving and in ninth place, travel to face FC Romania. The Wolves have only one win from ten and were thrashed six-nil by Tooting last weekend, whilst the Robins are five games unbeaten and will want to narrow the gap between themselves and the Playoff places.

Harlow Town have a new manager, three new players, and would like a new more positive outlook, given they’ve slid dramatically down the table with only one win from their last ten. They might not get a better chance, as their visitors, Ashford Town, are on a dreadful run- having lost their last seven matches and taken only four points from their last thirty- which is why they are at the bottom of the table. Their one win did come against then-leaders Hanwell Town, however, so they can perform when they put their minds to it.

Bedfont Sports, in twelfth place, take on fifteenth place Marlow. Sports have lost only two matches from their last ten, to first place Westfield and second place ware, whilst Marlow have also only lost two during the same period. The visitors problem is their ability to turn draws into victories- they’ve drawn five of those ten matches and eight of the nineteen they’ve played this season. Only Tooting & Mitcham United, Hanwell Town and Westfield have conceded fewer goals.
