Pitching In Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2021-22: Corinthian

By Ian Townsend

We now have two famous sets of amateurs in the league, both with a Corinthian name, which is likely to cause enormous confusion. The newest, Kentish bunch are represented by Mike Moyes.

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off. Mike Moyes brings us the world of Corinthian, who are about to kick off their first South East Division campaign.

1. Thinking about last season- what there was of it- were there any highlights for you?

It has to be finally achieving promotion after the last two seasons results were merged together. We fully deserved it after just missing out to Cray Valley PM three seasons ago.

2. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2021-22 campaign?

We've been very lucky and kept nearly the whole squad from last season bar a couple of players. A couple of players to mention- as I don't want to give too much away (!):
Aiden Prall our goalkeeper has been fantastic over the past few years with some outstanding saves, Louie Clarke upfront is a real fox in the box, and I'm liking the look of our new signing Kaka Dembele.

3. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

As I've previously mentioned we've kept nearly the whole squad from the past couple of seasons; they believe in each other and play for the shirt and each other. I'm predicting a mid-table finish- maybe slightly higher but will have to wait and see.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Being a new league, every game is going to be exciting and something to look forward.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

I'm looking forward to visiting some new grounds that I haven't been to before and ticking them off the list.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Again a new league, new rivals will be made and with 11 fellow Kent sides in the league it's going to be interesting to say the least!

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Remember to bring an umbrella if it's raining as there isn't a lot of shelter, other than that it's a great little non-league ground although with only 3 sides.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

I've only been supporting the club for a couple of years now so can't really pick one yet.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

It’s hard to say after not seeing this league before, and with only a few games played last season, but let's go with this:

Ashford United, Hastings United, Herne Bay, Ramsgate, VCD Athletic
