Pitching In Isthmian Supporters predictions 23-24:Enfield

By Ian Townsend

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. We’re off to visit some newcomers, Enfield, with Rob Ginder

1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

Winning the League! It's been quite a hard few years for the club as well as the fans. Our chairman, management and players deserved that and were fantastic all season.

2. And what was the worst moment?

Getting beat 6-3 on a rainy night away at Woodford, we didn't turn up at all. However credit is due as Woodford are a good team and in my book should win the the Essex Senior this season.

3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

There a few to be fair but if I had to pick one Louie Johnson was the stand out, turned up with goals and assists when needed, and a right baller, happy he's signed again. Big mention to Alex Warman, we can always count on him to put a proper shift in in midfield. We have a lot of strength in depth this season!

4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2023-24 campaign?

The signings of Sam Bantick and Roman Campbell add so much firepower to the team and Jayden Gipson adds more steel at the back. Looking forward to seeing them scoring.

5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

I would have said before the signings and preseason games so far, midtable would have done me- but honestly I now think playoffs are realistic!

6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Ipswich Wanderers away will be a new ground for me- looking forward to the that one by train. Felixstowe & Walton United as well, another new one. There are a few really nice grounds this season to visit. Just glad to be out of the Essex Senior!

7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

Can't really say one in particular been to Hastings United a few times that was always a nice ground to go to- however in the North Division I'd have to say Bury Town, nice ground and facilities as well as good food!

8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?

Last season would have to say Woodford for me their burgers were good.

9. Choose your top five:

Lowestoft Town, Heybridge Swifts, Brentwood Town, Walthamstow, Enfield

Right, it's your turn! If you'd like to represent your club, please email Ian at townsendaround@gmail.com and you'll see your answers here soon.
