The FA have announced that, in order to fill vacancies across the National League system, some of the clubs who finish the campaign in the relegation places at Steps Three and Four might not actually be relegated after all, depending on their points per game.
We were scheduled to relegate four clubs from the Pitching In Isthmian Premier Division, whilst in the North, South Central and South East Divisions the plan was that two clubs would be relegated automatically, and the sides third and fourth from the bottom would face playoffs against Step Five runners up.
The new plan from our governing body states:
Seven clubs across Step Three to be reprieved. Reprieves are based on the highest points per game, starting with the fourth from bottom clubs first, then third from bottom and so on.
Ten clubs across Step Four to be reprieved. Reprieves are based on the highest points per game, starting with the fourth from bottom clubs first, then third from bottom and so on.
The ten second placed Step Five clubs with the highest PPG will be promoted automatically without the need for playoffs.
