Robins hit Saints for five, whilst the Curfews and Sports get four

By Ian Townsend

Sutton Common Rovers ease their relegation fears with five, whilst Bracknell Town collect their title trophy. It’s our Pitching In Isthmian South Central round up.

Bracknell Town celebrated their title presentation in the best possible way, by winning five-nil- and in so doing made relegation even more likely for their visitors, Chalfont St Peter. Dave Tarpey and Mickel Platt put them two up at the break, and afterwards the traditional Seb Bowerman double- and another from Tarpey- put the six hundred and twelve in attendance in a party mood. That’s twenty eight for the season for Bowerman, fifteen for Tarpey- who missed three months through injury.

Chertsey Town, in second place, couldn’t quite match the Robins result, but they did get four, putting Guernsey to the sword in our early kick off. Jake Baxter got the first two, taking his season total to twenty one, whilst Sam Murphy and Didi Ndombe got two more in the second half. The Curfews are twenty two points behind Bracknell, but perhaps more importantly at this stage of the season five points ahead of sixth place Uxbridge.

Bedfont Sports continued their magnificent run by turning over promotion rivals Basingstoke Town. The travelling Sports silenced the home crowd of six hundred and ninety five as early as the fifth minute when Daniel Williams gave them the lead, and although George Reid ensured Stoke were level at the break, the visitors then hit top gear, Kevin Diomande, Williams with another and Lewis Flatman made it four. Stefan Brown got one back from the spot right at the end, but Sports end the day in third, two places, three points and twenty two goals ahead of their hosts.

Hanwell Town would have liked three points against relegation-threatened Westfield, but the main reason that Westfield are relegation-threatened is they’ve drawn so many matches, and they did it again. Both goals came late, the visitors taking the lead fourteen minutes from time through Jacob Breckon, but Calum Duffy equalised four minutes later for the Geordies. Andy O’Brien blotted his copybook with a red card just before the end.

Uxbridge closed the gap on fifth place Basingstoke with a two-nil win over Marlow, both goals coming in the first half. Anthony Mendy opened the scoring from the spot, his twenty fourth of the campaign, and Victor Osobu made it two eight minutes before half time. That was that, and Uxbridge are now only a point from that coveted top five spot.

Binfield increased Tooting & Mitcham United’s relegation worries with a two-nil win at Imperial Fields. Ollie Harris scored just before the break, Sean Moore made it two on sixty nine minutes, and the Moles are eighth- whilst the Terrors are firmly ensconced in the relegation play off spot, two points behind sixteenth place Westfield and seven points ahead of second bottom Chalfont St Peter.

Chipstead enjoyed a Non-League Day win over Thatcham Town, going in at half time two up through Jamal Abubakari and Kieran Lavery. Jack Beadle was able to make it three seven minutes after the restart, and Daniel Fosu’s penalty for the Kingfishers didn’t do too much damage. The Chips are tenth.

Northwood are eleventh after a two-one win at Ashford Town, continuing a season where they’ve been excellent on their travels. Sydney Ibie gave them a fourth minute lead, Josh Helmore made it two midway through the first half, and although the Tangerines rallied and got one back twelve minutes after the break- Ethan Hellyer with it- the visitors held on for three points.

Sutton Common Rovers continued their fine recent form by walloping Staines Town five-nil. The Swans look absolutely doomed, whereas Rovers look to be heading for safety, and were dominant at Gander Green Lane, Tony Halsey, Christophe Aziamale and Perri Iandolo putting them three up at the break, before Germaine Dua and Aziamale’s second of the game (his acrobatics are featured above, courtesy of Gary Brigden's camera work) made it five in the second half. Rovers are up to fifteenth, five points ahead of second bottom Tooting.
