Rooks launch 'Community Tickets Scheme'

Lewes partner with local food bank to bring football to those who can't otherwise afford to watch

Pitching In Isthmian Premier side Lewes- and their fans- have been big supporters of their local food bank for many years, but a new initiative announced by the club is designed to bring football to those who can't otherwise afford to watch it.

The Rooks have announced a 'Community Tickets Scheme'- in partnership with the food bank. The- rather unique- idea allows supporters to purchase 'Community Tickets' to be distributed to those who would benefit from them. These tickets, which cost ten pounds, will allow entry to watch a game, a meal and a drink- with the club subsidising the rest of the costs incurred.

They explain:

'As you may already know, Lewes FC has been helping local food banks for several years, by collecting donations at matches and helping out at supermarket collections. But we are now introducing additional help for local people worst affected by the cost of living crisis and who simply don’t have the spare cash to be able to attend a football match. Particularly at the Dripping Pan, a match is so much more than the football. It’s where everyone is welcome and where friendships are made and nurtured. Lewes FC is a community club and everyone is invited.'

Supporters can purchase the Community Tickets by heading to the club's ticketing site, which can be found here.
