Grays bring in former Bowers defensive kingpin

Earlier this morning Bowers and Pitsea announced the departure from the Len Salmon of defender Ryan Sammons, who has made fifteen appearances this season, with the following words:

"Ryan was a key part of our title winning side, part of the unit that conceded the least amount of goals in Step 1-4 last year.

He made 59 appearances for Bowers and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours. A model professional throughout, you helped create some fantastic memories for this club."

We all wondered where he was going- and now we know, as he's just been announced as a new signing for Grays Athletic. Athletic manager Jim Cooper, speaking to the club website, stated:

“Ryan was a permanent fixture in Bowers promotion last season and previously played for East Thurrock over 450 times. He brings a wealth of experience and I hope that final piece in the defensive jigsaw.”
