Lee Protheroe resigns as manager of Potters Bar Town

Potters Bar Town have announced the departure of manager Lee Protheroe.

Lee joined the club in the summer as First Team Coach, moving across from Pitching In Isthmian Premier rivals Wingate & Finchley. He took over the top job in November, replacing Sammy Moore when he made the surprise move to manage Faversham Town. He has had to contend with a collection of player departures, and results in the League have been poor, but the club have reached the Final of the Velocity Trophy, where they will take on either Aveley or Chatham Town.

As a player, Lee turned out for the likes of Yeading, Enfield, Aldershot Town, Canvey Island, Margate, Wealdstone, Chelmsford City and Gravesend and Northfleet.

Chairman Peter Waller said a fond farewell:

"Lee has been outstanding in the time with us and everyone knows he is a brilliant coach, and wanted to help us by stepping up to the role as manager.

We all wish him well, as he is one of the nice guys in football."
