Shot of the Season: Stuart Tree

We asked our fabulous photographers to pick their favourite photograph of the Pitching In Isthmian campaign, and explain why it’s important to them. We’re off to Corinthian-Casuals, courtesy of Stuart, the King of the Tea Bar Calendar!

When was the image taken (match, event, etc)?

Corinthian-Casuals vs Haringey Borough in the Isthmian League Premier Division on 7th January 2023.

Why is it important to you?

I believe it sums up the season the Casuals had. (Two Managers, two Interim Manager spells, club legend departed, seventy players used, zero cup match wins, unable to play home matches for two months due to a fallen tree on the clubhouse, relegation). It never rains but it pours.

Where can we find the rest of your work?

I’m on Twitter and Insta (@stuarttree) and most of my photos are showcased on Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/stuarttree/

How and why did you begin taking photographs at football matches?

I married up my love of football with a love of photography back in 2010.

What are your hopes for the forthcoming season?

Stability. A mid-table finish at least! Our natural level is probably Step 4 but we’re going into the unknown for the first time in many years.

If you're a photographer who would like to send in their shot of the season, please answer the questions above and email to Ian on townsendaround@gmail.com
