Sparks boss departs

Lovett leaves

South Park last night announced the departure of their manager Jay Lovett.

Jay, who had been at the club for twelve months, transformed the side from seemingly relegation certainties last season to one which now has a far more positive outlook. He is expected to sign for a new club shortly, and whilst we believe we know which one we'll wait for confirmation before mentioning names.

The statement read:

"It is with regret that we are announcing the departure of our 1st Team Manager Jay Lovett.

We would like to thank Jay for his contribution over the past twelve months, in which time he helped secure our step four status and continued to move us forward this season. We are understandably disappointed that Jay is leaving after a relatively short time with us but understand the pull of his local club.

Having given Jay his first management opportunity in senior football we wish him all the best for what will no doubt be a very long and successful management career."

As an uncompromising defender, Jay played for Crawley Town, Brentford, Lewes, Eastbourne Borough and Met Police, amongst others. He also spent a short time at Burgess Hill Town.
