Sponsors choose top performers

By David Watters

Bognor Regis Town, Haringey Borough and Chatham Town have been named as the Ryman League's performance kings for October.

After being unveiled on Thursday as Macron's third Performance of the Month Award winners of the season in the monthly competition to recognise and reward the Ryman's top divisional performers, the trio can look forward to being presented with glass trophies to mark their accolades at upcoming fixtures by representatives of the league and sponsors Macron.

Haringey Borough would be the first to admit they have been struggling in Ryman North since winning promotion to the Ryman League this season as Essex Senior League champions.

Tom Loizou's side are enjoying playing in the FA Trophy for the first time though and were chosen as October's top performers in Ryman North for two impressive wins in the competition, a 1-0 replay win at Coles Park over Ryman South leaders Folkestone Invicta on Tuesday 6 October and last Saturday's 3-1 victory at Southern League Dunstable Town in the first qualifying round.

In Ryman South, Chatham Town won the vote of sponsors Macron and the league's judges for their rout of Tooting and Mitcham in south London on Tuesday 20 October, Kevin Horlock's Chats running out 7-2 winners over the Terrors at their KNK Stadium to climb away from trouble at the wrong end of the table.

Bognor Regis Town and manager Jamie Howell will collect the club's first award of the campaign for their heroics in the FA Cup's Third Qualifying Round, a 4-2 victory over Oxford City at Nyewood Lane on Saturday 10 October.
