Hornchurch last night announced that they had parted ways with manager Mark Stimson.
In a statement on the club website, they explained:
'It is with real regret that this difficult decision has been made. Mark has delivered the biggest achievement in the club’s history with the 2021 FA Trophy Final victory at Wembley Stadium and has taken us to two play off finals in 2022 and 2023, ultimately ending in defeat but delivering some memorable wins along the way. The Board felt it was time for a change in direction as we continue our quest for promotion to the National League South.'
Stimson joined the Urchins in November 2018, and as well as that famous FA Trophy triumph has steered his side to the Pitching In Isthmian Premier Play Off Final for two seasons in succession.
He was previously the manager at Thurrock and Waltham Abbey amongst others, and of course steered Grays Athletic to a promotion and two Trophy triumphs earlier in his career, as well as also winning the competition with Stevenage.
