Shock as Paul Musgrove leaves Stowmarket Town

Yesterday evening Stowmarket Town sent us the above image of boss Paul Musgrove being presented with November's Vita Risk Solutions Manager of the Month Award for the North Division. A short while later the club surprised us with further communication, confirming that their manager had made the decision to resign following yesterday's defeat against Lowestoft Town- a defeat which sees them drop to sixth place.

Paul to the reins at Stow in November of 2020, and steered them to the Play Off's last season. His side have had another fabulous campaign, although they are currently experiencing a bit of a slump with three defeats from the last four.

Paul explained to the Suffolk News:

“The decision is made with a heavy heart,” he said. “Performances haven’t been good enough and today (against Lowestoft) has typified that.

“We didn’t perform well and the buck stops with me. It’s been really tough and I’ve looked at different ways to try and unlock the door with different formations and different things and it hasn’t worked.

“We haven’t been performing like I want. It’s just difficult to understand what else I can do as a manager to try and change that.

“I think it’s only right of the club and the players they get a different direction to try and achieve what they want to achieve.

“I’ve got a lot of good friends in that changing room, but at the same time I’m never going to shy away from the performances reflect me and we haven’t performed for one reason or another.”

The club have released a statement explaining that Richard Wilkins and Nathan Munson will take over on an interim basis.
