AFC Sudbury manager David Batch has strengthened his back-line with the signing of former King's Lynn Town captain Ross Watson.

The Peterborough-based defender, pictured, left the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League to join Batch's Ryman North squad after skippering the Linnets to last season's NPL First Division North championship.

The 25-year-old called time on his spell in Norfolk earlier this month after making 113 appearances and scoring eight times since his arrival at the Linnets in December 2010.

Batch said: "Ross is a versatile player who can play in several positions. He is a leader on the pitch and likes winning, so I hope he will have a big part to play in the future."

The versatile defender played at right-back for most of last term and as holding midfielder in his few starts this season. Watson kicked off his football career with Yaxley before moving on to Blackstones, Rushden & Diamonds, Cambridge City and Stamford AFC.
