Super stalwart honoured at final

Redbridge's match secretary Len Cordell has a fifty year long service medal to help put a smile back on his face after the Motormen's relegation from the Ryman League.

After seeing his beloved Motormen go down last week, the club's 83-year-old former treasurer was honoured at half-time during Tuesday night's 1-0 win for Concord Rangers over Heybridge Swifts in the BBC Essex Senior Cup final.

Pictured in the stands after being honoured in front of the crowd at Dagenham's Victoria Road, the super stalwart kicked off his career in football administration way back in 1966 when he took over as secretary of Central United FC. In 1970, he joined the Barking Youth League and was elected to the Essex County FA in 1973 as a youth council member before retiring in 2004.

The club stalwart, who'll no doubt remain active as match secretary at Oakside when the Motormen return to the Essex Senior League in August barring an FA reprieve in the summer, was honoured by the Essex FA at their showpiece final alongside Essex Football Alliance vice-chairman Alan Cross.
