Swans climb three places...

By Ian Townsend

...whilst there are cup victories for Binfield, Cray Valley and Chichester City. Here's our round up.

In the Pitching In Isthmian South Central Division, Staines Town, who were bottom of the table with only one win from their last nine league matches, got back to winning ways and climbed to sixteenth with victory over Tooting & Mitcham United.

The Swans got off to a great start when Ernest Murmylo, making his home debut, put them ahead after only five minutes- and then, eight minutes before the break, their quest for three points got a boost as the Terrors Jordan Clarke saw red. Seven minutes after the restart Andrew Ofosu made it two, and that was that.

We had three matches in the Velocity Trophy Second Round.

AFC Sudbury and Cray Valley PM have each had campaigns to be proud of, but both had experienced had disappointing results recently. Last night saw them cancel each other out, with the match ending in a penalty shootout. Marcel Barrington's twelfth of the season put the visiting Millers ahead on fifty six minutes, but they were ahead for only three minutes before Marley Andrews first of the campaign drew the Yellows level. So off we went to a penalty shootout, which the Millers won five-three.

Two South Central sides met in the shadow of the Heathrow fuel depot, as Ashford Town hosted Binfield. When the two met here in the League in October, it was the visitors who left victorious, and we had a repeat of that as Billy Montague got the only goal of the game after twenty five minutes.

Finally, Chichester City continued their fine form with a narrow victory over Westfield. Ethan Pritchard's third goal in four days- and seventh of the season- put City ahead after only eight minutes, but the lead was held for only four minutes before the other number eleven, Kai Hamilton-Olise, equalised. The winner came thirteen minutes from time, and it went to Emmett Dunn, another who was scoring for his second match in a row, the City number eight taking his seasons tally to four.

Tonight Sutton Common Rovers host Chipstead in the Pitching In South Central, as two sides who have struggled to win recently look to pick up three pre-Christmas points. Rovers have won only one of their last six, and sit in sixteenth; whilst the Chips have slipped down the table courtesy of two months without a league victory- their last win coming against Guernsey back on October 16th.
