Hashtag United need penalties to shake off Badshot Lea, and earn a Velocity Cup Semi-Final place

We finally know that Hashtag United will be at home to Haringey Borough in the Velocity Cup Semi-Final- but the outcome remained in doubt right until the end, as Pitching In Isthmian South Central side Badshot Lea gave the Tags a difficult night at the Len Salmon.

It looked like it might be plain sailing for the hosts when Misha Djemaili put them ahead after just seven minutes, applying a fine finish to a Nathan Smith cross- but the travelling Baggies had other ideas, and on seventeen minutes they drew level, Kareem Akinibbi getting his head firmly on a Callum Wiltshire free kick to equalise.

As the match ebbed and flowed the hosts made a collection of changes, bringing on all their big guns, but it was keeper Josh Strizovic who eventually won them the match when it went to penalties. He saved the visitors first Baggies spot kick, and in the end that turned out to be enough.

Congratulations to United, commiserations to their visitors, who delivered a fine performance. The Semi Final line up sees, as mentioned, the Tags welcome Borough, and Chatham Town welcome Ashford United in the other tie.
