Tanners eye second place, Vale look to widen the play off gap, whilst Villa offer two for one and hope for three!

By Ian Townsend

Elsewhere, Moles and Casuals are desperate for points at the bottom and Woods and Baggies hope for three in a row- it’s our South Central preview

Third place Leatherhead have the chance to move to second this evening, the Tanners travelling to Badshot Lea knowing that a point would see them climb. The visitors are six unbeaten, five of them victories, but the last time the two sides met, in November, it was the Baggies who departed with the points. Our hosts are in decent form, with three wins from four despite a hectic schedule, and will be confident that they can upset the odds and breach the best defence in the Division once again.

Raynes Park Vale will be looking to increase the margin between themselves and sixth place Westfield as they host Metropolitan Police tonight. Vale have won three in a row and seem to have got over an earlier rough patch, and another win would widen the gap between themselves and Westfield to seven points. The boys in blue are down in seventeenth, albeit fifteen points above the drop zone, and have gone four without a win- three of them defeats. They did, however, take a point at South Park reigate at the weekend, and were only narrowly defeated by Vale the last time they met- one-nil in October.

Hanworth Villa may be in eighth place in Pitching In Isthmian South Central, but the Villains certainly haven't given up on their chances of grabbing a play off spot despite the nine point gap between themselves and Southall- and they could cut another three points off that margin by defeating Corinthian-Casuals tonight.

Villa are in superb form, with six wins from their last seven, whilst their visitors find themselves at the bottom of the table having taken three points- all draws- from their last thirty, and are without a victory since November 18th, when they defeated...Hanworth Villa. Whether that gives Casuals, who are eleven points from safety, a mental advantage, or just means that a currently rampant Villa will be bent on revenge, well, we're about to find out- and you can bring a friend for free!
Villa have announced that they will be operating a 'Buy one, get one free' offer at the turnstiles tonight- cheapest ticket free. In addition, their own season ticket holders can simply bring in a friend for nothing. We suggest that, if you are a neutral, you spend your savings on some fine Rectory Meadow catering, and make some noise for whichever of our two titans you decide to support!

Finally, second bottom Binfield will hope their pitch survives any rain that may arrive this afternoon as they prepare to take on Northwood. The Moles are ten points from safety with three games in hand, but have gone seven matches without a win and have lost the last three of those, so are running out of fixtures in which they can salvage their season. The Woods have suddenly hit a bit of a purple patch, scoring nine goals in their last two matches whilst conceding only one. The two sides have met three times this season, once in the league and twice in the Cup, the Woods winning four-one in the former and triumphing in the latter after a replay.
