Top five confirmed after wins for Villa and Marlow- whilst Tangerines come from behind to climb out of the bottom four

By Ian Townsend

A critical night in Pitching In Isthmian South Central, with Hanworth Villa and Northwood confirmed in the top five, Ashford Town picking up a critical three points, and the Chips scoring four

Hanworth Villa needed just a point to confirm their top five status- but they managed all three, and three goals to boot- only goalkeeper Josh Addison keeping the scoreline respectable for visitors Guernsey. It was our featured match, and you can read all about it here.

Binfield had to defeat Marlow to keep their play off hopes alive, but Naheer-Omar Nawaf had other ideas, scoring the only goal of the game for the visitors after twenty four minutes. That result ensures that Marlow finish third- and it also ensures that Northwood’s play off place is confirmed. Marlow will host either Hanworth Villa or the Woods in Wednesday’s Semi-Final.

At the other end Tooting & Mitcham United had only pride to play for, relegation long since confirmed, whilst visitors Ashford Town were in desperate need of three points having slipped into the bottom four. It didn’t look good for the Tangerines after Rees Bangura-Williams and Elijas Bagdonavicius gave the Terrors a two goal lead after only a quarter of an hour, but they struck back through Dale Burnham and Chad Goulter to level, and the hosts went down to ten men six minutes before the break, Dillon Gordon seeing red. They were quickly punished, Wayne Ridgley completing the turnaround from the spot just before the break, and the visitors held on for three priceless points.

That result means that the best that Bedfont Sports and Sutton Common Rovers can hope for is a relegation play off place, whilst Merstham need a point against Westfield to avoid the chance of automatic relegation and three points to put pressure on Ashford Town in the fight for survival. To add to the drama, the Tangerines travel to Sutton Common Rovers, the hosts desperate for a win- a draw wouldn’t be enough to keep them out of the bottom two were they to lose and Bedfont Sports defeated Guernsey.

Southall have been difficult to defeat all season, but Chipstead arrived and put them to the sword. Andy Somo made it seventeen for the season when opening the scoring for the Chips after fifteen minutes, and it was quickly two, Jonathan Hood with that one. Jaden Thompson-Brissett got one back for All, but after the break the visitors added tow more, Charlie Kennett and Bradley Wilson making it four-one and sending the Chips above their hosts into tenth place.
