AFC Sudbury have confirmed that striker Sean Marks is to stay with them for the forthcoming North Division campaign- and the local paper have confirmed that he has made that decision despite the fact that it is likely to cost him money.
The former Braintree Town striker joined the Yellows prior to last season, and scored nine goals- most memorably the second as they knocked Harrow Borough out of the FA Trophy, and two as they defeated Histon away from home. He previously played more than three hundred times for The Iron.
Speaking to the Suffolk Free Press, he explained:
“In a ideal world I would not have to take a pay cut but I understand the future of the club in these unprecedented times is much more important than a player. If it is important for the club to be able to move forward by me saying I do not need to take that money and I will take a pay cut, that is the least I can do to help.
For me personally it has never been about the finances, it has always been about putting the team and club first.”
