Terrors fans step up to support their club and their local hospital

Tooting & Mitcham United fans donate £500 to club Crowdfunder campaign- and gift advertising package to St George’s Hospital Charity.

Tooting and Mitcham United are one of many of our clubs who have taken to crowdfunding during this unprecedented period in our history, and rather successfully too, as they've so far raised over eight thousand pounds. Two of their supporters have managed to combine being generous to the club with helping out their local hospital charity- St George's being at the forefront of the fight against the coronavirus.

Ciaran Kelly and Emmeline Pinion have been supporters of the club since moving to the area 2 years ago and decided to support the club by purchasing the featured reward of becoming a friend of the club for £500. Part of the package includes advertising for businesses and in order to support St George’s Hospital as well, Ciaran and Emmeline have offered this to the Hospital Charity to raise awareness and promote their activities throughout the season. This includes advertising via the club website, social media, a pitch-side banner and in the programme.

Amerjit Chohan, CEO of the St. George’s Hospital Charity said 'When Ciaran contacted us, we were very touched that he chose to use this opportunity to support his local hospital and our local NHS heroes at St. George's Hospital. During these unprecedented times, we are seeing so many acts of kindness in the hospital and in our community and would like to thank Ciaran and Tooting and Mitcham United FC for this opportunity.'

Tooting & Mitcham United FC and St Georges Hospital have a close relationship with their medical school and mental health team using the 3G pitches at the club for matches, as well as the club helping to raise funds for the Charity most recently at the comedy night held at the club back in September 2019.

Supporter Ciaran Kelly had the following to say about his generous donation:

‘Since moving to the area two years ago, I have been impressed by the community spirit of Tooting, in particular, Tooting & Mitcham United FC and it has become a regular part of our week supporting the club home and away. During this difficult time, it seemed appropriate to support the club and the local hospital which Emmeline works at, in any way we could. We can’t wait to be back at Imperial Fields cheering on the Mighty Terrors!’
