Towners and Town look to go top five- but most of our action is at the other end!

By Ian Townsend

We have three- we hope- Pitching In Isthmian Premier fixtures tonight. Here's our preview.

With only five points between the top eight in the Pitching In Isthmian Premier, and- ensuring a second pitch inspection at 6PM is passed- two of them will hope to force themselves into the top five this evening.

Sixth place Enfield Town will find themselves in third place if they can defeat Billericay Town, whilst a blue victory will see the Essex side up to fifth- or perhaps fourth, but that would require a significant margin. The Towners have only two defeats from their last ten matches, whilst the Blues put a six match unbeaten run on the line as they arrive at Donkey Lane.

This is their first meeting of the season- the return is at New Lodge in eleven days time. The last time they met- in April 2018- the spoils were shared, Adam Cunnington putting the Blues ahead, Ryan Blake replying for the Towners right at the death. Jamie O'Hara- remember him- saw red for the visitors. Cunnington, of course, is these days turning out for the other side!

Next, we head to the other end of the table.

Margate are having a torrid time at the moment, seven matches without a win, three points from the twenty one available. They are back at Hartsdown Park tonight hoping to extend the six point gap between themselves and the bottom four; whilst visitors Bowers & Pitsea have an even greater need of points, as they are four points from safety. Bowers have lost their last three, and indeed have only two wins from ten. Goals from Harvey Smith and Marcell Deslandes gave Gate a two goal win at the Len Salmon in August, and the Blues seem to have a hold on their visitors, having won their last five meetings.

Wingate & Finchley, three points and one place outside the bottom four, take on the side one place and one point ahead of them, Kingstonian. The hosts have only two wins from ten, but the K's are doing no better- and indeed have taken only seven points from the last thirty available to them. The sides have already met twice this season, in League and Trophy, both ending in two-two draws; but the Blues won that Trophy match on penalties. A win for either side could see them climb two places.
