Trophy hunters paired at Wembley!

By David Watters

The Ryman League's flag-bearers in the FA Trophy are running the rule over their next opponents in Non-League's showpiece competition after the draw for the final qualifying round was made at Wembley at lunchtime.

The FA Trophy's third qualifying round kicks off on Saturday 28 November with 16 Ryman League clubs still hoping to be involved in the 40 ties scheduled and competing for another £4000 in prize money.

Five clubs face replays first. To set up an all Ryman tie at home to East Thurrock United, Hastings United must first overcome Merthyr while Haringey Borough will travel to Weston Super Mare if they can knock out Hitchin Town when the sides meet again this week. Bury Town or Herne Bay will host Thurrock while Kingstonian, twice winners of the competition, are going again against Dorchester Town for the right to host Truro City.

Elsewhere, other notable ties include three former Ryman League clubs with the Metropolitan Police hosting Wealdstone, Hampton & Richmond Borough at home to Maidstone United and Dulwich Hamlet welcoming Margate to Champion Hill.

This season's FA Trophy Final takes place at Wembley on Sunday 22 May 2016. For the first time ever, the FA Vase is also being played at the national stadium earlier in the day as part of a new Non-League double header.
