Tuesday's Ryman North action review

By David Watters

Three out of five scheduled games went ahead in Ryman North on Tuesday night, with two of the top five in action, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Second-placed AFC Hornchurch took on Essex neighbours Tilbury at Bridge Road. And a feisty derby ended all-square at 0-0, although the Urchins had to hold on for the last couple of minutes with ten-men following the dismissal of Junior Luke.

The point lifted the Dockers to sixth, two points behind the play-off places while Thurrock are fourth and moved level on points with third-placed Cray Wanderers after winning 3-1 at third-bottom Waltham Abbey.

This was another tough derby in which Ronnie Winn gave the visitors a 13th minute lead that Ross Gleed doubled on the half-hour mark. The Abbots had Ryan Blackman sent-off for a second bookable offence a minute from time but there was still time for the teams to trade goals through Christian Assombalonga for the hosts and Charlie Cole for Thurrock.
