Tuesday's Ryman Premier action review

By David Watters

Ryman Premier leaders Dulwich Hamlet could only manage a 1-1 draw at Champion Hill against a now seventh-placed Leiston on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

In front of a crowd of 617, a solid defensive display provided the catalyst for a very hard earned point for the visitors. Leiston took a ninth minute lead through Gareth Heath, smashing home from ten yards after good work from Christy Finch.

The lead lasted until first half stoppage time when Nyren Clunis equalised. The visitors were then indebted to a fine display from goalkeeper Ashlee Jones along with a resolute defence to ensure they brought a valuable point back to Suffolk.

Those two points dropped allowed Hampton & Richmond Borough to move level on points with Dulwich in second spot after a hard-earned 2-1 victory against promotion rivals Bognor Regis Town at the Beveree.

Sriker Jamal Lowe bagged two goals in the 21st and then 45th minutes as the Beavers won their third game on the spin. Craig Robson got one back for Bognor as he managed to get on the end of a corner with 20 minutes to go which produced a nervy ending with Hampton goalkeeper Mark Smith making some outstanding saves the preserve the advantage.

Grays Athletic moved into ninth place, but only four points behind fifth-placed Billericay Town after a 4-0 mauling of Staines Town at Wheatsheaf Park.

The Blues scored twice in each half – Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson giving them a 23rd minute lead that Jay Leader added to five minutes before the break. And Fortnam-Tomlinson must have impressed the watching scouts, no doubt there really to see in-demand Dumebi Dumaka, as he went on to complete his hat-trick in the 60th and 79th minutes.

Enfield Town pushed themselves well clear of the bottom four after a 3-0 win against Harrow Borough at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium.

Harry Ottaway gave Town a 24th minute lead that Evans Kouassi eventually doubled on 65 minutes. Sub Bobby Devyne added a third with 10 minutes remaining.
