Tuesday's Ryman South action review

By David Watters

Worthing moved back up to second place in the Ryman South as they beat in-form Hythe Town 2-0 at the Photronix Stadium on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Rebels took a 17th minute lead when Harvey Sparks crossed for Zack Newton to steer in at the far post. Lloyd Dawes converted from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 just before the hour-mark and that was how the score remained.

The result will no doubt provide a much-needed confidence boost ahead of Saturday’s clash with league leaders Folkestone Invicta while elsewhere on Tuesday, second-bottom Chipstead shared a 1-1 High Road draw with Hastings United.

Sam Butler gave the Chips a 24th minute lead that Sam Cole eventually cancelled out from the penalty spot 17 minutes from time.

Corinthian-Casuals are now tenth, albeit only four points behind fifth-placed Guernsey, after a 5-1 hammering of Walton & Hersham at King George`s Field.

Terry Murray after 11 minutes and then Matt Reece in the 35th and 38th minutes gave Casuals a 3-1 interval lead, with Aaron Watson pulling one back for the Swans just before the whistle. Juevan Spencer after 56 minutes and Josh Uzun in injury-time wrapped up a good evening`s work for the home side.

Not too far away, Tooting & Mitcham United enjoyed almost as comfortable a 4-0 win over East Grinstead Town at Imperial Fields.

It was goalless at the break but the Terrors broke the deadlock just three minutes into the second period through Kurtis Pykes. Jordan Wilson added a second in the 57th minute and a Jake Baxter brace in the 77th and 84th minutes – the first from the spot – sealed the win.
