Tuesday's Ryman Premier action review

By David Watters

Supporters of Brentwood Town can be forgiven for feeling a little hard done by on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

After the euphoria of a 4-1 hammering of Hendon gave them a glimmer of hope of avoiding the drop, news filtered through that the team immediately above the bottom four, Needham Market, had also won away at Canvey Island!

A youthful Hendon side fell behind to an Alex Teniola opener in the 20th minute and he scored again shortly after half-time. Ben Pattie pulled a goal back almost immediately but in the 58th minute Sam Bantick restorted the two goal advantage before Teniola completed his hat-trick in stoppage time.

Needham Market broke the deadlock at the Prospects Stadium when Kemal Izzet netted a 53rd minute penalty.

Two minutes later and Michael Brothers doubled their lead and, despite a 78th minute Martin Tuohy response, the Marketmen held on to move four points clear of the drop zone.

Harrow Borough are virtually safe after a goal from Spencer McCall right on half-time gave them a 1-0 Earlsmead win over in-form Staines Town.
