Unbeaten Blues come back for late win, and Robins march on

By Ian Townsend

Stortford and Athletic go through in the Trophy, whilst K's triumph in the Premier- and the Yellows and Swifts have to share the spoils in the North. It's our round up.

Bishop's Stortford went into last night's FA Trophy match with Brentwood Town unbeaten in all competitions, and they left it in similar fashion- but for a significant section of the contest it didn't look like they would survive unscathed. Two goals in the first half hour from Andy Freeman- his sixth of the campaign- and Robbie Rees put the Pitching In North side firmly in the driving seat, but Tom Richardson reduced the arrears seven minutes before the break, and Archie Jones got an equaliser just after the hour. it looked as if the least Brentwood would manage would be a shootout, but four minutes from time Frankie Merrifield grabbed his eighth of the season to send Stortford through to a First Round tie at Haringey Borough.

Carshalton Athletic will join them in the First Round, hopefully next month, as they defeated Merstham by three goals to one at the Whisky Bible Stadium. The Robins went ahead through David Fisher on nineteen minutes, and Harry Ottaway made it two before the break. Ottaway got his second, and the Robins third, with twenty minutes left- and the Moatsiders only had a last minute consolation from Omar Folkes to show for their efforts. The Robins will host Barking when the Trophy restarts.

Back in the Pitching In Isthmian Premier, Kingstonian climbed to sixth with a three-one win over Haringey Borough, and Corie Andrews claimed a match ball after getting all three of them. Laste Dombaxe had equalised Andrews' first effort just before the break, but two more from the K's main man, who now has nine for the season, sealed the win in the second half.

Finally, the Pitching In Isthmian North Division saw AFC Sudbury and Heybrodge Swifts have to be content with a point. Swifts will perhaps be more content than their hosts, as their equaliser, from Joe Debell, came in the very last minute. Ben Hunter had given the yellows the lead nineteen minutes earlier. The Ywllows are up to second, Swifts up to fifth.

Where next?

The Rams will run five hundred miles, and then they'll run five hundred more... And then they'll run another four thousand- and all for charity
