Urchins wallop Wands

Hornchurch secure a play off spot- whilst plunging Cray deeper into trouble

With everything so tight at the bottom of the Pitching In Isthmian Premier Division, Cray Wanderers really needed to pick up something from the visit of high-flying Hornchurch, but all they got was a hiding.

Hornchurch, five matches unbeaten and in fourth place, were always going to be a difficult opponent for the Wands, but as it turned out the Urchins delivered all the magic. It was one-nil at half time, Ola Ogunwamide with the opener on fourteen minutes, and two-nil on sixty six minutes- Liam Nash with his nineteenth of the season (twenty first if you include the Pitching In Super Cup)- but even then there may have been a way back for the hosts, who were in the match until capitulating during the last five minutes.

Ellis Brown made it three-nil on eighty five, three minutes later Charlie Ruff got number four, and Tobi Joseph popped up with a fifth right at the end.

That result sees the Urchins climb to third in the battle for a home play off place, whilst Wands are second from the bottom, having won only one of their last ten.
