Veteran bosses land awards

TWO of the Ryman League’s most experienced managers were among the winners when the first Macron Awards of the season, covering August and September, were announced today.

Margate’s Chris Kinnear (pictured courtesy of Margate FC) is the Ryman Premier Manager of the Month for masterminding his team’s march to the top of the table and John Maggs earns the honour for achieving the same with Crawley Down Gatwick in the South.

Adam Lee, boss of Ryman North leaders Potters Bar Town, takes the award for that division.

Unlike the managerial awards, the Team Performance Awards cover both league and cup matches, and knockout victories account for two of the three prizes this time.

Hastings United win the Ryman Premier award for their 3-2 FA Cup victory at Conference South side Staines Town in the second qualifying round on September 22.

Last Saturday’s 2-1 FA Trophy triumph at Kinnear’s in-form Margate gives Maidstone United the Ryman South trophy.

Redbridge may not have had the best of starts to the season but 8-0 away wins are rare and so Heybridge Swifts take the Ryman North award for their crushing victory over the Motormen at Oakside on September 11.

Where next?

Tuesday's league and FA Trophy action HARLOW had to wait just two weeks for the chance to avenge a 4-0 home defeat by Brentwood in an FA Trophy replay. But the repeat fixture in Ryman North did not quite go according to plan for the Hawks: this time they lost 5-0!
Home tie rewards giant-killers WHITSTABLE'S reward for their FA Trophy victory over Harrow is a home tie against Ryman South rivals Leatherhead in the second qualifying round, to be played on the weekend of October 27/28.
