Grant Basey departs VCD Athletic

VCD Athletic have announced the departure of manager Grant Basey. In a statement, they explain that Grant tendered has resignation following yesterday's defeat to Whitehawk, a result which leaves the club in fourteenth place in Pitching In Isthmian South East, only three points above the bottom four.

Vickers have been as high as second place over the course of the season, and were last in the top five on November 12th, but a run of nine matches without a win- culminating in yesterday's defeat- has seen them tumble down the table.

Grant joined the club in May. He was previously in charge at Cray Wanderers for a short period, and previously played for Wands- indeed they were his last club before his retirement. Prior to that he had a successful professional career, playing for Charlton Athletic, Brentford, Barnet, Peterborough United and Wycombe Wanderers before dropping briefly into non league. He has also worked as First Team Development coach at The Valley.
