Vita Risk Solutions Manager of the Month Awards: March 2023

Premier Division

It’s time for a visit to Hayes Lane, where we bestow honours on Cray Wanderers boss Neil Smith. Wands had a fine March- indeed, they had a one hundred percent March, defeating Bowers & Pitsea, Potters Bar Town, Brightlingsea Regent and Horsham to ensure they remained firmly in the promotion race. Given that March marked the first anniversary of Neil’s appointment as Wands boss, it’s perhaps worth a measuring the progress made at the club since then- which makes this award even more appropriate. Congratulations to Neil, and to all at the club.

North Division

When Stowmarket Town ended Hashtag United’s long, long winning run on the last Saturday in March, everyone sat up and took notice. What they had perhaps missed, however, was that the win against the Tags ended a perfect month for Stow, who had already defeated East Thurrock United, AFC Sudbury, Maldon & Tiptree and Great Wakering Rovers to jump into the top five.

Our Vita Risk Solutions Manager of the Month award goes to Chris Casement- his first since his recent appointment, and greatly deserved. Many congratulations.

South Central Division

Once again we board the luxury Isthmian yacht (it’s a rowing boat with an oar missing) and head up the Thames. Indeed we may as well moor up in the vicinity of Walton & Hersham, as Swans boss Scott Harris picks up our prize for the second month in a row. Walton had a fine March to follow their fine February, averaging a rather incredible 4.25 goals a game (yes, you can’t score .25 of a goal, blame the calculator!) and winning every match. South Park, Chertsey Town, Binfield and Uxbridge were each put to the sword, and striker Eddie Simon scored a hat trick in each of those matches to become a celebrated media personality. Congratulations to Scott and his side.

South East Division

It’s time to take a trip to the Island. No, not the Island of Doctor Moreau (unless he’s moved)- the Island of Sheppey, footballing home of Ites boss Jack Midson. March saw Sheppey United take to the field four times, and it saw them leave the field on each occasion with three points in their pockets, and with rather a lot of goals to celebrate. East Grinstead Town were the first to be vanquished (four goals), and then VCD Athletic (just the one goal this time). Fellow play off contenders Sevenoaks Town were next up (three goals), and then Beckenham Town were given a lesson (five-one). All of that means that our Vita Risk Solutions Manager of the Month winner is Jack Midson, and he’s about to receive a shiny trophy to remember a month full of shiny points!
