Kevin Watson departs Ashford United

Ashford United yesterday announced the departure of manager Kevin Watson.

Kevin took over at Homelands in May, and leaves them in eleventh place in Pitching In isthmian South East.

He ended last season in the Pitching In Isthmian Premier, at Herne Bay, trying to help the club retain their top flight status. Prior to that became a legend at Cray Valley PM, where he steered the club to unprecedented heights- including an FA Vase Final, promotion to our ranks as SCEFL champions, an FA Cup run which took them to the First Round (and included a win at National League side Maidenhead United), and a Play Off Semi-Final.

A club statement explained:

'Kevin Watson and his team have been relieved of their duties at Ashford United FC, after a disappointing season.

Ashford United would like to take this opportunity to thank Kevin, Adam and Tommy for their support and efforts this season and we wish them well for their future in football.

We now prepare and start rebuilding for a positive next season, with new ownership and management.'

The club later announced an interim management team, Alan Walker taking on the manager role with Darren Hare as his assistant. Alan previously managed Sittingbourne, Tonbridge Angels and Maidstone United.
