Wednesday's Ryman Premier action review

By David Watters

Wednesday night's two games in the Ryman League's Premier Division both produced two draws, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Fourth-placed Leiston met third-placed Canvey Island at Victory Road and the teams shared a 1-1 draw.

In an enthralling encounter, Leiston got off to a perfect start, scoring after just 62 seconds when Billy Clark fired home after Gareth Heath's free-kick wasn't properly cleared.

The experienced Glenn Poole brought the Gulls level on 31 minutes and despite both sides going all out for the win, they had to settle for a point apiece.

The other game saw Kingstonian miss the chance to move into the top five when they were held to a goalless draw at Fetcham Grove against Leatherhead.

The draw extended K`s unbeaten league run to eleven matches, although it was a fifth draw in six October games.
