Westfield sign forward from the leaders

Basingstoke attacker Marcio Neves makes Westfield debut

Westfield may have lost at promotion-chasing Marlow on Tuesday night, but the travelling fans at least had the opportunity to take a first look at their new forward, Marcio Neves, who has arrived from leaders Basingstoke Town.

Marcio has made eleven appearances for Stoke this season, after arriving a year ago from Alresford Town. He also managed three appearances in the closing stages of last season.

Stoke boss Dan Brownlie told the club website:

“I’ve spoken to Ian Selley, the manager at Westfield, and we have an agreement in place. It may well be until the end of the season but we’ll be keeping in regular contact. We love working with the boy; and we’re sure it’s not the last you’ve seen of him, but he just wants to play so it was important we helped him with that. This move will give him the chance to grow, gain regular time on the pitch and hopefully return an even greater player. He’s more than played his part this season and we’re sad to see him go – but we think this move is important for his development and hopefully we can be the longer term benefactors.”
