Will this be the Millers moment?

A point will give Cray Valley PM the title- can Horndean spoil their party? Ramsgate need to defeat Three Bridges and hope the Deans deliver an unexpected triumph

It’s been so close, for so long, but finally in midweek Cray Valley PM pulled three points clear of Ramsgate in the battle for the Pitching In Isthmian South East title- and now the Millers head to Horndean looking for the single point which would confirm them as champions and see them promoted. With only one defeat all season- that crazy match against Three Bridges at the start of March- if Cray Valley take the title they’ll certainly deserve it, but they don’t have it yet, and Horndean at their best have been a force to be reckoned with on occasions this season. The Deans have seen their form slip of late, however, and have lost four of their last five- but they did hold the Millers to a draw at the Artic Stadium at the end of January.

We’ll have a report here shortly after full time, so long as the A27 and M27 don’t fall over!

Ramsgate have been our title favourites for most of the season, but- despite Joe Taylor’s fifty one goals so far- they go into the final match knowing that they need victory over fourth place Three Bridges and for Horndean to defeat Cray Valley PM- and that they need to overturn a three goal deficit in the goal difference column at the same time. If the Rams do defeat Bridges at Southwood it’s possible that they might host them again in the Play Off Semi-Final next week, but they may not find it easy, as their visitors are in fine form, having won their last seven in a row and undefeated in thirteen.

Third place Sittingbourne welcome Littlehampton Town to Woodstock Park, the Brickies looking for a third win in a row as they prepare for either Three Bridges or Chichester City at home in the Play Off Semi Final; whilst fifth place City, who saw a ten match winning streak (and a thirteen match unbeaten run) come to an end against Ramsgate last weekend, will want to get back to winning ways as they travel to Herne Bay. They know they’ll be heading to Kent again in midweek.

Hythe Town look to end their eleven match losing run as they welcome sixth place Lancing; whilst East Grinstead Town, who secured their safety in midweek with victory over Horndean, will play host to Sheppey United- the Ites looking for a fifth win in a row and a seventh from eight matches, and to ensure that they hold on to seventh place.

Broadbridge Heath have had a fine first Isthmian campaign, and take a run of one defeat in ten to Ashford United, the Nuts and Bolts having lost their last four; whilst Sevenoaks Town look to hold onto a top ten spot with victory over Phoenix Sports at Greatness Park.

Burgess Hill Town have had a poor end to the campaign with only two wins from ten, but the Hillians will want to sign off with three points as they welcome relegated Beckenham Town, Becks rather ironically in their best form of the season with ten points from their last four games. Finally, bottom side Erith and Belvedere will hope to say goodbye to their Isthmian stay with victory over Merstham, the Deres coming into this one without a win in twelve matches. The Moatsiders are looking for a fourth unbeaten game in a row.
