Yannis for Bay

By Ian Townsend

Herne Bay debuted midfielder Yannis Drais on Saturday- and he marked his first start with a fine goal

With five minutes gone in Saturday's home match with Bowers & Pitsea, newly-arrived midfielder Yannis Drais stood over the ball for Herne Bay before curling a fine free kick over the wall and into the net, putting his side two goals up.

Yannis played youth football for RC Lens in his native France, before heading to our shores and playing for Cardiff City at Under 18 and Under 21 level. Back in France he then turned out for Drancy, Avoine Olympique and Besançon, before returning to the UK with Aldershot Town. Spells at Dover Athletic and Welling United followed.

This appears to be his first time in the Pitching In Isthmian League, and if he scores more goals like that he will be a welcome addition to our ranks!
