A Carter departure

Chertsey Town become the third club in a week to announce a managerial change

Pitching In Isthmian South Central promotion favourites Chertsey Town have not always looked like promotion favourites this season- which is perhaps why they have parted ways with manager Wayne Carter.

Wayne only joined the Curfews during the close season, taking over at the club after being part of the Hanwell Town managerial duo which defeated Chertsey in the Play Off Final. The club have released a statement on social media, which you can see here.

It explains:

'The decision has been made out of the situation surrounding results and associated matters. Wayne took up the appointment just after the end of last season and it is acknowledged that he has worked tirelessly in the search for promotion.'

The statement continues:

'Although acting at an early stage of the season it is considered imperative that the quest for promotion does not run away and that momentum built over the last few seasons is maintained. The search now concentrates on finding a successor. In the meanwhile the side will operate with the co-operation of senior players within the squad.'

The Curfews are in sixth place, having lost their last three matches in all competitions. They were defeated three-nil by Basingstoke Town last Friday evening.
